Consumer Alert: Cheap Scooters
Written by Colin Shattuck

They offer inexpensive Chinese made scooters, many of which are illegally imported. The machines lack DOT and EPA compliance and the sellers lack proper state licensing. Of particular concern are scooters with engines exceeding 50cc displacement which require license plates in Colorado. People are purchasing these machines from private parties and shoddy retail outfits only to discover that they are unable to properly register the scooters. Parts are difficult, if not impossible, to attain and service facilities are not available. Chinese scooter warranties are usually shams with clever language hidden within them indemnifying the seller from honoring them. Beware of all Chinese scooters sold on free classified sites. Brands include Lifan, Roketa, Tank, Baron, Pizz-azz, Twist'n Go.

We stopped servicing these scooters several years ago after repeated mechanical failures including fuel system problems, leaking brake fluid, locked brakes, cracked engine cases, etc. Several very angry customers complained to the B.B.B. While we continue to repair the Tn’G scooters we originally sold we will not offer services to customers purchasing these scooters from LoHI scooters.
